Ruby and Stuart
How and when did you two meet?
Ruby: I was just about to go off to university and my mum and Malc threw me a leaving party at home. She had been going to dance classes - Ceroc for a few months and kept telling me there was a gorgeous man there who I just had to meet. Truth be told I envisioned a man old enough to be my dad who could crack a few moves - wow wasn't I wrong!? Stu walked through the door at the party and I immediately dragged my mum off and had to know who this gorgeous man was! She even referred to him as dancing Stu! I then started to go along to ceroc classes and dancing with Stu made me fall for him hook line and sinker! I wasn't only hooked on Stu but dancing too and it still is a passion we both share!
Ruby, when did you know Stuart was the one for you?
I will be honest, from the minute I was on my own with Stu I knew he and I were meant to be together. He had this addictive way of living and just being and from the minute he left me I counted down the minutes until I saw him again! Stu is a special kind of guy!
Stuart, how did you propose to Ruby and how did it go?
I had been planning this proposal for months!! To the point that I was convinced I saw Ruby in traffic on the way to buy her engagement ring and had to stalk her movements to check I wouldn't get caught!
We were on our first dance weekender to Brean Sands with her mum and Malc (who were in on the whole thing as well as our dance teacher and the weekender crew!!) and I wouldn't have been able to do it without them. Dawn and Malc helped with everything - they were quivering wrecks like me! Dawn wore a bumbag the whole time with the ring in! Even sleeping with it under their pillows! Ruby kept commenting on the bag and telling Dawn it was hideous! If only she knew at the time!! HA!
In order for my plan to work we all had to convince Ruby to enter the main dance competition and thank god it worked! We were both so nervous (me more so knowing what was coming up) and we got through to the final round. After the judges announced the winners - which wasn't us, Ruby just wanted to sit down as she doesn't like losing!
Dawn and Malc being in on the whole thing decorated our chalet for afterwards and made us bright pink sashes saying "We got engaged at Ceroc!". Everyone congratulated us and told us how they cried as it was so beautiful and how they were gutted we didn't win! Everyone can watch it again and again as we are also on the official Ceroc Weekender DVD which we fully intend to show our generations for years to come!
How did you feel when you found out you had won the competition?
We were driving in the car just about to go out when Ruby looked at her emails and started screaming and flapping her arms around! She asked me to pull over as she kept shouting "WE'VE WON STU WE'VE WON" - bearing in mind I couldn't remember her even telling me she had entered this competition! We both couldn't stop bouncing around in the car and shouting "what, what what whaaaaaaaat". Then after it set in we both burst into fits of laughter and rang our family to share our excitement! We were grinning all day and couldn't quite believe it happened to us.
